Community

Kingsmead School, Pupil Referral Unit, Derby City

Group and individual creative psychotherapy and therapeutic theatre groups, some groups culminate in a performance.  Individual or group therapy is process based and uses creative psychotherapy as the intervention, this may incorporate the use of a sand tray, puppets, story, art, music, video, photography, mask work and role-play as its main focus.  This service has been provided at Kingsmead School since 1999.

Youth Offending Service

Individual creative psychotherapy with young people who are on community orders, who have been recently released from custody within an Intensive Resettlement Support programme or high risk offenders working in the Intensive Surveillance and Supervision team.  Providing consultation for parent, families, care providers and Youth Offending staff.

Mainstream and Special Schools

Individual and creative psychotherapy with vulnerable young people and those at risk of permanent exclusion. Catharsis has experience of working with individuals who have suffered the traumatic grief of another pupil’s suicide, experienced family bereavement and who are self harming, expressing suicidal ideation or engaging in risky behaviours.

Private Practice

Individual creative psychotherapy with young people, adults and staff.  Catharsis has several therapy rooms in our Arts Therapy Centre on Lodge Lane, Derby – this is a confidential and calm space with free parking. Private therapy fee is £55 per session.

 Social Care

Referrals taken from Adoption Support, Leaving Care, Adult Social Care, Priority Families and other teams.

Training

Kingsmead School, heads, teachers, teaching assistants and learning mentors

A variety of training packages delivered to staff including teachers, teaching assistants and heads at Kingsmead School exploring serious issues pertaining to the young people and families attached to the school including responses to trauma and endings.

Newtons Walk, heads, teachers and teaching assistants

A variety of training packages delivered to all staff at Newtons Walk Primary PRU exploring serious issues pertaining to the young people and families attached to the school including responses to endings, attachment, brain development and creative team building.

Youth Offending Service

A variety of training packages delivered to all staff at the Youth Offending Service exploring serious issues pertaining to the young people and families attached to the service including responses to trauma and endings, attachment etc.

External Providers

A variety of training packages delivered to many external education providers including the Youth Offending Service, Nacro, Baby J, Happy Hens, Deda, Cycle for life, Venture for Life, Ground works, OZbox, YMCA etc.
