Self Care for Therapists

“Put your own oxygen mask on first…”  A workshop looking at the how the traumas of those we work with can impact us, how to protect ourselves and maintain a self care ethos

Tired? fatigued? Stressed? Facing burnout in your role? Make a New Year’s resolution for 2018 to be the year you take better care of yourself!

As therapists we can’t offer our clients a safe and healthy therapy space without first looking to how we take care of ourselves. As therapists we are also likely to let our self-care slip and can easily fall into the role of giving, giving, giving.

This half-day workshop will cover:

  • A brief theory of stress, vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue and burn-out.
  • The signs and symptoms and how to better understand our own responses
  • Self care exercises; creative, mindful and body-based exercises to explore our own self-care
  • Self-care resolutions; developing a personal self-care plan to take away.

The workshop will be carefully paced giving participants time to reflect, think and feel refreshed. Welcome to 2018!
