Rachel

Rachel is a young adult in her twenties who referred herself into therapy privately (not through an organisation, she funds her own sessions).  She initially arrived in therapy in a domestic violent relationship with a very controlling partner.  She came from a broken home where she had no contact with her father for many years, he had moved abroad when she was very young and had not contributed to her welfare on any level.  She witness domestic violence as a child and experienced inconsistent care giving from her mother’s partners.  Rachel has a variety of health problems, including issues around her weight.  She has worked verbally and creatively in therapy, she has found this useful in addressing repeated patterns of relating to people.  She has utilized bodywork techniques to express her emotions and lift depression and anxiety.  She now manages to hold down employment, engage in friendships and maintain a healthy loving relationship with her new partner.
